ConvertKit (now also branded “Kit”) is the email platform we recommend to creators, course sellers, and content businesses without hesitation. We have built sequences inside Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, and Systeme.io’s built-in email tool. ConvertKit is the one where we did not feel like the platform was working against us.
What makes ConvertKit the right call: the visual automation builder is the cleanest in its category — you can see the entire subscriber journey on one screen, drag steps around, and ship in an afternoon. Tagging-based segmentation means you do not have to manage a dozen overlapping lists. The deliverability is solid, the editor does not fight you, and the free tier (up to 1,000 subscribers) is enough to validate that your list-building is actually working before you pay a dollar.
Where ConvertKit is wrong for you: if your business model is selling physical products through a heavy promotional calendar (flash sales, abandoned carts, etc.), Klaviyo is the better fit because it integrates with Shopify deeper and was built for that use case.
